Convert Quizlet to Anki
Paste a Quizlet set and download an Anki deck in one click. It also works with two columns copied from Excel or Google Sheets. Free, no sign-up, and nothing leaves your browser.
In Quizlet: … → Export → Copy text, then paste here.
How to move a Quizlet set to Anki
- Open the set on quizlet.com, press the … menu and choose Export.
- Keep the defaults (Tab between term and definition, New line between rows) and press Copy text.
- Paste it in the box above, name your deck and press Download Anki file.
- In Anki for Windows, Mac or Linux choose File → Import and pick the downloaded file.
The file sets the deck name, the Basic note type and a tag for you, so there are no import options to fill in. It needs Anki 2.1.55 or newer. Once imported, sync and the cards appear in AnkiMobile and AnkiDroid too. Your cards start as new cards, so Anki schedules them from scratch; Quizlet's progress does not carry over.
Why people move from Quizlet to Anki
Anki is free on the desktop and Android, works offline, and uses spaced repetition to show each card just before you would forget it. That makes it popular for big decks such as medical school, language vocabulary and exam revision. Quizlet is quicker for making and sharing sets. Converting lets you keep the sets you already have and review them the Anki way.
Converting from Excel, Google Sheets or CSV
Any two-column list works. Select the front and back columns in a spreadsheet, copy and paste: the cells arrive separated by tabs, and cells with line breaks keep them. For a CSV file, open it in a text editor, copy everything and choose Comma as the separator if it is not detected. A header row such as "Term, Definition" is skipped automatically.
No set yet? Make one from your notes
If you are starting from lecture slides, a textbook chapter or notes, you do not have to type cards at all. PDF to Anki writes an Anki deck from a PDF, and Notion to Anki does the same from pasted notes.

How do I export a set from Quizlet?
Open the set on the Quizlet website, press the three dots (…) and choose Export. Leave "Between term and definition" on Tab and "Between rows" on New line, press Copy text, and paste it here.
Is this an .apkg file?
No, it is an Anki text import file (.txt) with headers that set the deck name and note type. Anki 2.1.55 and newer read these headers, so importing is one step: File → Import, pick the file, press Import.
Are images and audio copied?
No. Quizlet's export only includes text, so images and audio stay in Quizlet. Terms and definitions, including accents and other languages, come across as they are.
Can I convert a spreadsheet to Anki?
Yes. Put fronts in one column and backs in the next, select both columns in Excel or Google Sheets, copy, and paste here. Cells that span several lines keep their line breaks. CSV files pasted as text work too.
Are my cards uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser: the text you paste is converted on your device and the file is saved straight to your computer.
Can I make cards from my notes instead?
Yes. If you have notes or a PDF rather than a finished set, use PDF to Anki or Notion to Anki, which write the cards for you with AI.
Can I go the other way, from Anki to Quizlet?
Yes. The Anki to Quizlet converter turns an Anki plain-text export into text you paste into Quizlet.
