How to move an Anki deck to Quizlet
- In Anki on your computer choose File → Export.
- Pick Notes in Plain Text (.txt), choose the deck, untick Include HTML and media references, and export.
- Open the file in Notepad or TextEdit, select all, copy, and paste it in the box above.
- Press Copy for Quizlet, then paste into Quizlet's Import box.
Leaving HTML in is fine too: tags are stripped and entities such as & are turned back into normal characters. Line breaks inside a field become spaces, because Quizlet starts a new card on every new line.
Why people move decks to Quizlet
Anki is hard to beat for long-term memorisation, but Quizlet is easier for sharing a set with a class or a study group, playing Match and Live with friends, or studying on a phone without setting up sync. Converting lets you keep one deck in Anki and share a copy in Quizlet. Quizlet does not use Anki's review history, so your progress starts fresh there.

How do I export a deck from Anki?
In Anki on your computer choose File → Export. Set the format to "Notes in Plain Text (.txt)", pick the deck, untick "Include HTML and media references", and press Export. Open the file in a text editor, copy everything and paste it here.
What happens to cloze cards?
Quizlet has no cloze cards, so each cloze note becomes one Quizlet card: the sentence with ____ for each hidden word as the term, and the hidden words (plus any Extra field) as the definition.
Are images, audio and formatting copied?
No. Quizlet imports plain text only, so images and audio are left out and bold, colours and lists become plain text.
Which fields are used?
The first field becomes the Quizlet term and the second the definition. If you exported the note type, deck or tags as columns, they are recognised from the file headers and skipped.
Are my cards uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion happens in your browser and the result is copied to your clipboard. Nothing is sent to a server.
