How it works

  1. Add your PDF

Or paste text, or a link to a web page. PDFs are read on your device.

  2. Get your cards

Choose 5 to 50 cards and a difficulty. Cards cover the whole document.

  3. Study or export

Flip through them here, or send them to Anki or Quizlet.

Why make flashcards from your PDFs?

Flashcards work because they make you pull the answer out of memory before you see it. That effort, called active recall, is what moves facts into long-term memory. Re-reading a chapter feels productive, but testing yourself on it is what makes it stick.

The slow part has always been writing the cards. An AI flashcard maker does the first draft for you: it reads the whole PDF, picks out the key facts, terms and ideas, and turns each one into a question with a short answer. You spend your time studying instead of typing.

What makes a good flashcard

Good cards ask one thing at a time and have a short, clear answer. The generator writes cards in that style, spreads them across the whole document so no chapter is skipped, and adds a one-line explanation on the back so you know why the answer is right.

For the best cards, use a PDF with full sentences, like lecture notes, a textbook chapter or a revision guide. Slides with only a few words per page give thinner cards. To focus on one chapter, add the PDF and tick "Only use some pages".

How do I get the flashcards into Anki?

Press Anki under "Export to" and a file downloads. In Anki on your computer, choose File → Import, pick the file and press Import. The cards land in a deck named after your document. It needs Anki 2.1.55 or newer; sync afterwards to study on your phone.

Can I use the flashcards in Quizlet?

Yes. Press Quizlet under "Export to" and the cards are copied. In Quizlet, create a set, choose Import, paste, and press Import.

Do I have to export them?

No. You can study right here: flip each card, mark it "I knew it" or "Still learning", and review the ones you are still learning until you know them all. Share the link to study on another device.

Is the flashcard generator really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no trial and no card limit per day. You can make 5 to 50 cards at a time, as often as you like.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Your browser reads the text on your device, and only that text is sent to write the cards. We do not keep the text. The finished cards are kept for 30 days so your link works.

Which PDFs make the best flashcards?

Lecture notes, textbook chapters, glossaries and revision guides, up to 100 pages. Pick a page range to make cards for just one chapter. Scanned PDFs without selectable text do not work yet.
